Overseas Farm Equipment Buyers Scam
Farm Equipment Sellers BEWARE!
It has come to our attention that there is a scam where
an overseas buyer, usually African, wants to buy your farm equipment and
pay you with a cashiers check. All fine and good, until you have
shipped the equipment and the cashiers check turns up counterfeit!
This scam is not limited to just farm equipment, but to
cars and other items. From the reports we researched, it seems that
the items most vulnerable are those at or below $10,000 in value.
This is not to say that your higher valued farm equipment isn't vulnerable.
We ask that you please keep this in mind and use caution
if you have posted or plan to post an online ad here or anywhere else on
the internet.
If you should be or have been contacted by someone that
fits this description, contact your local authorities.
