: : When I bought my lot I found an old manure spreader on the property. It has steel wheels and is just about gone from rust. I was able to make out some markings on one wheel. I think it says "The New Idea Spreader Company" Can anybody provide information on this piece of equipment. I grew up in the suburbs and have limited knowledge on farm equipment. Thanks

: New Idea made manure spreaders and possibly still does, if yours has four wheels it was a horse drawn type or tractor pulled if it has two wheels at the back. These were all ground driven, ie they used the power of the rear wheels to run a device to spread (flippers) and another to move the load from the front to the back (apron) Ask some specific questions if you have more. I am looking for the web for a McCormick #10 spreader. Are they available?
